Affordable homes are becoming scarce.
Not just Las Vegas but the whole country is facing a shortage of affordable homes.
Many families are finding it difficult to buy or even rent homes that are within their means. According to a recent study 92 percent rental apartments are out of reach low and moderate-income families.
Most end up spending more than 30 percent of their incomes on rent for their modest homes. The people who are unable today to rent homes closer to their places of work are the working-class who perform many valuable services. These people are essential for all our services to run smoothly. Added to high costs of living and rents now the workers have to spend long hours traveling to and from their places of work all these add their financial burden.
The state and federal governments need to formulate policies to make affordable housing available to lower income groups and acknowledge their importance to the society otherwise the governments will have to bear the costs of providing homeless shelters to many of these people who may be driven out of their homes by rising costs.
